Twenty years on from 20/07/44....No, I mean 12/10/84!

Twenty five years ago today, during the Conservative conference in Brighton, IRA blew up the hotel where the Tories had gathered. Five people died, but the main objective - Margaret Thatcher- survived.

Grand Hotel was left severely damaged, as these pictures show, and Thatcher left the scene in a state of shock. Now, a quarter of a century later, Patrick Magee, the convicted bomber, will attend the Houses of Parliament to promote reconciliation.

All of this makes me think 20th of July, 1944...
