Paris Hilton And The Wife Of An African Dictator - you couldn't make it up...

I, like most people, did not know who Paul Biya, let alone Chantal Biya, was before I saw these pictures. It turns out Paul is the President/Dictator (depending on who you ask...) of Cameroon and Chantal is - you've guessed it - his wife. The only reason we know this is because of Paris Hilton. That's quite a sentence, folks, and one you're not very likely to read in any self-respecting newspaper, or on this fine blog for that matter.

But, according to a Guardian story, Chantal is a member of the African Synergy, a group of 22 partners to the continent's head of states. They gather over tea (probably champagne though) to discuss serious issues i.e. AIDS, poverty, peace and handbags - all the essentials! This time around, instead of taking the bus to Kenya, they all flew to California and hooked up with Paris Hilton.

All the girls meet for cocktails and a 37 course banquet in a Hollywood ballroom. Perhaps if they had brought all that food back to Africa, they could have taken poverty off the list! Paul Biya is apparently No 19 on the list over the world's most evil dictators (I wonder how they measure that?) and Chantal truly looks the part of dic wife in her OTT dress. Even Paris looks subtle next to her - and that, ladies and gentlemen, is truly an accomplishment...
